Anti-aging tips for baby boomers in retirement

Many baby boomers in retirement are becoming more and more concerned with their health needs. Aging has become a reality, so they must take steps to improve or maintain good health and slow the aging process.

According to a recent study by Herbal News Magazine, baby boomers born between 1948 and 1953 evaluated their general health more poorly than their elders, based on a similar study conducted in 1992. Perhaps this happened because the Baby Boom generation was generally less physically active than their elders had been, both at home and at work. Less physical activity and poor eating habits have led to many cases of diabetes, obesity, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure among baby boomers in retirement.

Fortunately, it's not too late for baby boomers to become pro-active in their own physical well-being. These anti-aging and health tips can help.

Use Herbs to Supplement Diet

Herbs have been around since the earth's beginnings and can often be found in seasoning and spices we use, plants, many organic foods, and herbal supplements. With the onslaught of pharmaceutical companies and modern medicine, herb use for anti-aging and good health dwindled for a while. But now, baby boomers are realizing the many benefits of holistic health and that herbs offer an affordable alternative to many prescription or over-the-counter drugs.

Some popular herbs for enhanced health and anti-aging include oregano, alfalfa, wheat germ, Echinacea root, fenugreek, arginine, witch hazel, cinnamon, cardamom, dill, peppermint, thyme, ginseng, ginger, rosemary, black pepper, green tea, cat's claw, and many others. Ginger, for instance, is an antioxidant that helps cleanse the colon, stimulate circulation, and reduce spasms and cramps. It also helps reduce hot flashes and indigestion. Alfalfa detoxifies the body and works as a natural diuretic, hormonal balancer, and cholesterol reducer. Cinnamon enhances the metabolism to help with weight loss, and it is recommended for fungal infections, digestive problems, diabetes, yeast infection, and other ailments. The list of herbs available today goes on and on.

Baby boomers in retirement can see a holistic doctor or one that specializes in homeopathy to discover herbs or alternative medicines that will work best for them.

Natural Healing

Another way baby boomers can improve health and prolong the aging process is through natural methods and remedies for healing. The "ancients" often turned to natural remedies for healing because they didn't have a doctor's office or local hospital nearby. Today, many people turn to drugs, which only treat the symptoms, not the problem. Though some diseases and sicknesses do require pharmaceutical drugs, there are many conditions that could possibly be healed naturally. Natural healing is available for many ailments including colds and congestion, back or neck pain, stress and tension, headaches, circulatory problems, and others.

There are several natural healing methods. Acupuncture is a Chinese therapy in which fine needles are used to unblock energy in the body so the healing process can take place naturally. Chiropractic methods include re-aligning or adjusting skeletal systems in the body to help the body release blockages and heal itself. Cranial sacral is the process of adjusting or aligning the bones of the skull to help with headaches, chronic pain, joint syndrome, or injuries to the head or spine. Massaging is a natural healing method in which the hands are used to gently release stress and tension through motion and pressure on certain muscles. Other natural healing methods include Rolfing, Shiatsu, reflexology, and the healing touch.

Choose All-Natural Beauty Products over Chemically-Based Products

Chemically-based beauty products might work wonders at enhancing beauty for now, but long-term use can actually speed up the aging process. Some products that promise beauty might actually dry or damage the skin, damage hair, and cause pre-mature wrinkles. Luckily, there are many organic beauty products available in lotions, shampoos, make-up, bath oils, and soaps to help skin stay beautiful and to reduce signs of aging. These are made of natural ingredients instead of dangerous toxins that can be absorbed into the body through the skin.

Physical Activity, Healthy Eating, and Relaxation

Three other key factors to good health for baby boomers are physical activity, healthy eating, and relaxation. Baby boomers in retirement can still be active doing the things they love such as walking or jogging, riding a bike, gardening, traveling and sight-seeing. Also, they can eat healthier by choosing foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals. Finding a way to relax each day is also important for good health. A soothing bath in natural bath oil, reading a book, spending time outdoors on a swing... all these offer time to relax and clear the mind of the day's stressful activities.

These methods have helped many people, but a doctor should be seen with any serious illness. Herbs and alternative medicines are not automatic cure-alls, but are meant to enhance health and help the body heal itself of minor illnesses.

Baby boomers in retirement don't have to stand by and watch their health go downhill. The Internet is a great resource to get started and research different herbs and their health benefits. It's time to take action with these natural health and antiaging tips!

Lose weight in a week

Lose weight in a week? Everybody seems in such a hurry these days, and it does have to be said that a steadier approach is better. Nevertheless, it is certainly possible to lose weight in a week, and not just the odd pound, but a meaningful amount. Here's how you can lose weight in a week.

Tip 1

There is no question that it is possible to lose weight in a week, but exactly how much depends on various factors. How heavy you are when you start will determine the rate at which you can lose weight, and there are other factors which have an influence as well. Men have a greater muscle mass which helps them burn calories faster than women. On average, it should be comfortably possible to lose 5 or 6 lbs in one week.

Tip 2

However desperate you are, don't attempt too much. There is a limit to how much weight anyone, no matter how great their determination, can lose. If you are looking to lose over 20 lbs in a week just to fit into a party frock, then you are very unlikely to succeed. Set realistic goals, and make sure you check your progress every day. If what you are doing isn't working, you need to know about it as soon as possible, so you can make the necessary adjustments.

Tip 3

Choose your favorite exercise, and do plenty of it. If you are not normally the physically active type, then you may not have a favorite exercise. In this case, choose something which you will be prepared to do a lot of in order to achieve your cherished goal. You will need to be putting in the hours every day consistently and often if you want fast results! Jogging and cycling are great ways to burn off excess calories, and brisk walking is more gentle, but still effective. You will need to put in a few miles, though!

Tip 4

Tell people you can trust of your aims. Often people you know will be skeptical when you say you want to lose a certain amount of weight in a short time. You will not want the humiliation of having them proven right, but you will enjoy the satisfaction of seeing them admit they were wrong. Motivation is critical for any activity where strenuous effort is needed, and these are great carrot and stick motivators!

When you need to lose weight in a week, these tips will help you do just that. As ever, if you are going to attempt a dramatic change of lifestyle, it will be advisable to get advice from your own doctor. Click the links below for valuable resources to help you lose weight.

Can hair dye cause cancer

Further study is needed to fully understand relationships between hair dyes and bladder cancer, researchers said. Basically, they found no overall increase in cancer deaths among users of hair dyes. These opinions are concerning the use of permanent hair dyes and bladder cancer in 2005. Because of the widespread use of hair dye, the possibility of a relationship between it and cancer is quite alarming. In this study, the two main criteria were exposure to personal hair dye products and an outcome of cancer at any anatomical site.

"The totality of evidence today is far more reassuring than alarming about any hazards of hair dye use," Dr. None found evidence of a significant excess among hair dye users overall. A European Commission watchdog has criticized the hair dye industry for failing to provide evidence of the safety of its products. Until definitive evidence come in consumers may want to proceed with caution when selecting a hair dye. A European Commission watchdog criticised the hair dye industry in 2002 for failing to provide evidence of the safety of its products. But there is no strong evidence that hair dyes cause any of these.

Permanent hair dyes, the most popular choice among consumers, come in two categories: oxidation and progressive. Thus it may be concluded that it is hair dye that accidentally spilled over and has taken effect by oxidation. They are called Oxidation hair dyes because they contain Paraphenelenediamine, which is a basic constituent of these dyes.

You might feel good after a chemical hair dye but, if you're dying your hair in this way frequently, It is belived that you're killing yourself softly. A chemical free hair dye, use at home hair colour. A compound henna mix is not a chemical free hair dye. Suraiya As with any chemical product, you should always use hair dyes in a well ventilated area. Here are the facts: Hair dye, bleach, perms and relaxing solutions are all absorbed into the bloodstream to some degree.

Skin irritants at work using bleach

Bleach is an Irritant to the skin, and in some cases it is also classed as a corrosive. Children are more at risk than adults as many are not aware of the risks that bleach poses. Adults usually can recognise the smell of bleach and know to wash their hands after contact where as children are ignorant of the risks.

The main risk is to the user of the chemical, through either damaging the skin, eyes through contact or by mixing it with another chemical which may produce toxic fumes that can cause problems with breathing especially if the person has a pre existing breathing related problem or illness such as Asthma. An example of this would be pouring bleach down the toilet then spraying an acidic cleaner on the toilet walls can produce chlorine gas.

Assessment of risks in the use of chemicals such as bleach whilst at work is required to be completed and the assessment communicated to all employees under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2003. All COSHH risk assessments need to use a Material safety data sheet on the product which contains all the relevant safety information for the safe use of the product. All suppliers or manufacturers have a legal duty to produce and provide these material safety date sheets on request.

If you are sourced with the requirement to complete an assessment of the risk of the exposure on harmful chemicals then the information you should use in the assessment includes:

The safe storage of the chemical

Safe disposal methods

First aid requirements in contact

Personal Protective equipment to be used

The likelihood of contact and its usage

The control measures to safe guard safety in use

Precautionary measures to reduce risk in the contact of harmful chemicals such as bleach include using thinner bleaches to reduce the concentration. The use of safer alternative products which does not contain harmful substances is the best option.

Antibacterial sprays on the market today are more suitable especially in environments where children may come into contact such as schools. These are classed as low hazard and only pose a risk when used excessively sprayed into a room with no ventilation.

Dbol the great grandfather of all anabolic steroids

You can call dbol as the “great grandfather of all anabolic steroids”. Dr. John Ziegler’s Dianabol is popularly known as dbol. Its pharmaceutical name is Methandrostenolone / Methandienone. It was released by Ciba in the United States in 1956.

Dbol is one of the most powerful anabolic steroids. It comes in pills and injectable form under the trade name, Reforvit-B, which is 25mgs of methandrostenolone mixed with B-vitamins. Chemical structure of dbol is 17 beta-hydroxy-17alpha-methyl-1, 4-androstadien-3-one. Molecular weight of dbol is 300.44; formula is C20H28O2; and Anabolic/Androgenic Ratio (Range) is 90-210:40-60.

Dbol is one of the most widely used anabolic steroids bodybuilder and power jocks. It is said to be used by almost every Mr. Olympia from Scott to Zane. It is said that dbol pills helped Arnold Schwarzenegger to win his first of seven Mr. Olympia titles. Dbol was freely and abundantly used by bodybuilders until it was banned by the U. S. FDA under the Controlled Substances Act.

Dbol has a great effect on protein metabolism. It effects protein synthesis, supports protein buildup, and maintains a positive nitrogen balance which can also have a positive effect on well being. It helps bodybuilders to increase their muscle mass, strength and improve muscle stamina. It helps them gain 2-4 pounds each week for six weeks, if it is taken combined with proper nutrition and training of course.

DOSES – Dr. Zeigler recommended dose for athletes is 5-10mgs/day. Effective dose is 25-50mgs – effective dose for men is 15-50 mg/day and effective dose for women is 5-10 mg/day. Its active life of is 6-8hours, and its detection time is up to 6 weeks.

Dbol is often taken in cycles and usually stacked with various other anabolic steroids. It gives the best results when it is used in combination with other anabolic steroids. It is commonly stacked with Deca-Durabolin or Primobolan, and perhaps even Equipoise. It is also stacked with injectable anabolic steroids, such as enanthate, cypionate, and sustanon.

STUDIES – Studies conducted on dbol in the early 80ґs showed that high doses of dbol (100mgs/day for 6 weeks) decreased plasma testosterone to about 40%, plasma GH went up about a third, LH dropped to about 80%, FSH went down about a third, and Fat Free Mass went up anywhere between 2-7kgs (3.3kgs average gain). Studies concluded that dbol increases fat free mass as well as increasing strength and performance.

SIDE EFFECTS – The some side effects associated with dbol include acne, gynecomastia, liver infections, increased body weight, excess fluid retention, high blood pressure, faster heart beat and early hair loss. It may develop strong masculinization features in women.

PRESENT STATUS – Dbol is presently banned by the U. S. FDA. Its production in most of Western Europe and the United States has been stopped, but it is still produced in countries, such as Mexico under the trade name Reforvit-b, Russia, and Thailand. It is amply available on the U. S. black market.

Ramp it up

Today’s lifestyle is highly competitive and difficult especially for disabled persons. Nevertheless, disabled individuals should enjoy the same quality of life that able-bodied individuals experience. Public and private places should be built with ramps and structures that make them accessible even to disabled persons. If your workplace does not have ramps or facilities for disabled individuals, you can talk with your employer to make some adjustments.

Ramps differ in places and come in many designs but all of them have the same purpose – to make an entry accessible to people in wheelchairs, scooters, walkers or anyone else who cannot use the stairs. Building a ramp is not as easy as putting a flat piece of wood in place where the wheelchair can pass through. In building a ramp certain factors need to be considered. Who will use the ramp? How much room do you have? Will the ramp be permanent or temporary? How much weight are you expecting it will have to support? How much will it cost?

For permanent ramps, build metal or concrete ramp. Wood ramps can be pleasing but they are not very durable and can easily crack. Although metal ramps are strong, its surface can get severely hot in the summer. Concrete ramps are durable and ideal in many conditions but they are very difficult to remove. Thus, you need to carefully consider how the ramps will be used before building it to avoid any problem and costly mistake.

Any person with basic carpentry skill can build a ramp. However, it takes more than that to build a good ramp. It may be a good option to let the one who will use it design the ramp if the person who will design it does not have enough experience with ramps and knowledge of the design guidelines. Fortunately today, cluelessness in ramp creation is declining. The accessibility regulations that were drawn after the passage of the American Disabilities Act have given architects guideline to work with. Keep in mind that ramp construction is not rocket science, thus, the guidelines of the ADA act gave a clear understanding of the procedure and considerations for good ramp building that even someone with no understanding of gravity can build and design a good ramp.

But remember, from time to time wooden ramps may need paint jobs and the no-skid rolled roofing surface needs to be occasionally replaced. Likewise, metal ramps may need certain joints to be re-welded and rust removed. Thus, whichever type of ramp you build the key to keeping them safe is by complying with the American Disabilities Act codes and maintaining the ramps regularly.

How long will it take to gain muscles build muscle mass

There are many factors to consider when you want to know how long will it take for you to gain and build muscle mass. Questions like are you eating enough and the right nutrients to accelerate muscle growth, are you exercising correctly and regularly and do you have the genes for quick muscle growth need to be addressed.

In this article, we shall discuss whether you have the genetic make up to gain and build muscles quickly. Don’t despair if you don’t because this is only one of the several factors that determine how long will it take for you to build muscle mass.

It is certainly helpful to know your body type when you want to build muscles. By knowing your own body type, you can then plan your nutritional and exercise program to suit your specific body type to encourage muscle growth.

We shall discuss the 3 common body types and their characteristics here.

• Endomorph: You have naturally big frame body and usually have a round face, wide hips, big bones and slow metabolism. You are the type that gain weight and body fat easily. However, you also have potential for gaining muscle mass quickly. Only problem is that your muscles may be hiding under your body fat making you look big bulky and clumsy. Your six pack abs is hidden under your tummy fat is not going to show.

So you will have to build muscles and then burn off the fats to reveal your muscle definition. That means you will take slightly longer time than the next body type to show off your muscle gain and mass because you need time to cut away body fats as well.

• Mesomorph: You are blessed with a naturally muscular body and have wide shoulders, small waist, athletic body frame structure, low body fat with a somewhat high metabolism. With your natural predisposition, you can pack on muscles real fast and are the type that can take up bodybuilding as a career if you want to. You excel naturally in sports and will always have that sexy and handsome body that is to everyone’s envy.

You are the type that will not take a long time to see your muscle gaining size, mass and definition. In fact, if you train, eat and rest correctly, you will visibly see your muscles growing week after week right before your eyes until you hit a body building plateau.

• Ectomorph: You are the skinny type with small muscles, very very high metabolism, narrow shoulders, hips and waist. You find it hard to put on weight and muscles no matter how much you eat. You will need much more greater effort than others to build muscle mass on your skinny frame. People call you the hard gainer.

You will take a longer time and need extra effort to gain muscle mass. Although it can be done, it is a constant battle for you because you are fighting what nature has given you.

Most people fall in between the three types. For example, a person can be a mixture of Mesomorph and Endomorph or Mesomorph and Ectomorphs.

Now that you have identified your body type, you can then write down your goals, objectives and the methodology you wish to take to gain muscle mass. By having a specific body building program to follow, it allows you to take concrete actions each day to achieve your muscle gain goals. How long will it take to build muscles and gain muscle mass certainly depends on the body type you have but it will also depend on numerous other factors.

Wonder medicine and the best conqueror

The pretty young croupier observed her matured customer and gave him a hand. The expensive casino only catered for the more astute visitant, which is why she had taken the job. She was anxiously looking out for an elderly benefactor – after all if Anna Nicole Smith could reach that objective, why not she? On the other hand she was resolute to know someone she truly liked the appearance, the thought of smiling and thinking on it every time was silly. So she talked to and flirted with all the 123regulars, customers, clients, clientelesometimes fended off unwelcome offers from the riskier type of old guys. For a gold digger, she was definitely scrupulous!

after some weeks the accurate sponsor arrived at her table: he was neat, had radiant eyes and didn’t immediately start drooling at the sight of her slender curves and body-hugging slinky shirt. Actually, he was the perfect gent, alert to avoid touching her by accident and asking questions that showed a real attention on her life. She believed that she had met her objective – he was old rich kind and he wanted to date with her – she couldn’t desire more.

Months passed and he continued to visit only her table but he never dared to advance more. She was starting to feel disappointed could she do anything else? Not only that but she was really beginning to enjoy his company and look forward to his appearances – was she feeling attracted by him?

She decided to catch his attention and one night offered him a drink after work. He stayed late to share a drink but she noticed a note of insecurity in his eyes, perhaps he had figured out her objective of finding a supporter!

On the night she dressed to surprise him and he was clearly smitten but only kissed her purely at the end of the night. She was feeling a desire that surprised her but he chuckled when she tried to caress him under the table…

“I am a matured guy," he smiled. “I can't face what you wish any more," he looked depressed as if he was remembering long forgotten memories of clandestine lovers. “My time is up.”

She felt very disappointed and realised without delay that it was no longer his money she craved but his company and touch.

She remembered that her father had experienced erectile dysfunction when he had been ill (they were a very talkative family!) and gave him some recommendations. He explained that generic viagra or generic cialis had eased off his impotence. She dashed off to order some on her personal computer, just searching for generic viagra and generic cialis in Firefox. Lots of websites appeared and in no time she had packs of generic cialis and generic viagra in the post.

The next weeksurprised but glad she reserved a room in the casino’s hotel and awaited her guest. He came but explained that it was too painful to see her and that he was not coming back…. What a terrible situation!

She asked him to come to her room for a farewell drink and he sadly agreed.

she poured some champagne and told him that she had found a way for them to be together and handed him the generic cialis lozenge. Taken aback he took one and they canoodled, chatted and sipped their champagne until, within an hour he felt something that he hadn’t experienced for a long while.

Needless to say – they shared the best sex of their lives!

Dealing with stress due to sleep deprivation

Lack of sleep may throw the body's system off balance. It is one of the factors that may contribute to stress and fatigue. In the long run, lack of sleep hampers a person's emotional well-being, mental abilities, productivity, and performance.

Lack of sleep actially increases the production of a hormone called corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH). The production of this hormone is the body's response to stress. After the hormone is released, it prompts the pituitary gland to produce adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH). The ACTH is the messenger that prompts the adrenal gland to release adrenaline and other stress hormones. These hormones give a person a feeling of being “stressed out.” If left unaddressed, a person under stress is bound to have other stress-related ailments like migraine, insomnia, and even heart problems.

Loss of sleep has long been associated with poor physical coordination, weak memory or poor concentration, sluggishness, depression, and other negative conditions and behaviors. People who do not get enough rest and sleep are often found struggling with their work and daily chores because they feel tired all the time. Studies also show that people who sleep less than eight ours a night are more prone to experience nightmares.

Surprisingly, recent medical research has established links between sleep depriviation, cigarrette smoking, and alcohol abuse. As a way to induce sleep, many insomniacs and even those with milder sleeping problems resort to drinking alcohol. By drinking alcoholic beverages, they expect to get a feeling of relaxation and inebriation, which eventually leads to sleep. After waking up, some would have to counter the effects of sluggishness by puffing on a cigarette. Cigarettes contain nicotine, a substance that serves as a strong stimulant. Nicotine, however, has been found to be toxic and is considered to be carcinogenic along with at least 30 other harmful chemicals and by-products of cigarettes. At least a billion people around the world smoke cigarettes which explains why the annual production of the product can reach as much as 5 trillion sticks.

It is now common knowledge that excessive alcohol and cigarrette consumption can lead to the development of several serious ailments such as depression, obesity, cancer, and cardiovascular disease. Indeed, both alcohol and cigarrette consumption should noit be viewed as viable options for dealing sleep depreviation.

Individuals who suffer from sleeping problems have other options that are not harmful to their health and well-being. A simple lifestyle change may enormously help in promoting sound sleep. Minor adjustments like “winding down” after a hard day's work would be found effective by just about every person who wants to get a good night's sleep. Not working at home, reducing the number of phone calls, and avoiding other stimulating or stressful activities an hour or two before bedtime can do wonders. The bedroom should be a place for sleep, and not for activities like working or watching TV. Avoiding caffeine, cigarettes, and other stimulants at least six hours before bedtime may help prevent insomnia. In addition to these adjustments, adding exercise and other physical activities into one's lifestyle may relieve stress and lead to better sleep --- as long as these activities are not done near one's bedtime.

If these adjustments don't work, people with sleeping disorders should consult a physician and inquire about the proper use of over-the-counter sleep aid medications. These medications help restore normal sleep cycle, enabling a person to get much-needed rest..

However, it is important to understand that these drugs should be taken only as prescribed by the doctor or a qualfied health professional. Using them for more than a week may bring unwanted side effects. Seeking the approval of doctors is necessary before taking medications for sleep aid. These drugs may lead to the development of side effects and interact with other drugs. Sleep medications can also become habit-forming or cause drug dependencies.

Although the use of sleep aid medications is not prohibited, it should certainly be always done only after consulting a doctor. Aside from taking these types of medication, a person with a sleeping disorder should also strive to do the basics: avoid excessive intake of stimulants, engage in regular exercise, and get professional help when confronted with serious anxieties or stress.

Why do i have bad breath the causes and treatments

Many people think they suffer from bad breath. Are you one of them ? It is actually quite hard to smell your own breath. One good trick is to lick the back of your hand wait 30 seconds and then smell the back of your hand or you could just ask a close friend.

So what causes the smell?

In 85 - 90% of cases the smell is caused by the bacteria that are living on the back of the tongue. These bacteria live in the hairs on the back of the tongue and produce horrible chemicals when they break down food particles which in turn produce the smells. These are called volatile sulphur compounds or VSC. If you look at the back of your tongue you will notice it is rougher and it has more hairs this is generally the area where the malodour originates from.

It is usually worse in the morning because saliva production slows during the night and your mouth dries out. Saliva is good because it washes away the bacteria and food particles and also it has lots of goodies in it which slow down the activity of the bacteria

We recommend treating this by using a tongue scraper to remove the bacteria from the back of the tongue(see OrafreshTongue Scraper).Sounds easy but it can make people gag intially. Some times of the day are worse than others so try and find a time when it is easier for you to do this . After a period of time people generally get more used to it & can then move gradually further back on their tongue. It is amazing what comes of the back of your tongue! For best results this should be done once a day and your tongue scraper should be replaced at least 6 monthly. After using the tongue scraper for a while(a few weeks daily), try stopping it & you will be able to detect the generally fouler taste in your mouth.

We then recommend the use of a mouthwash containing chlorine dioxide (see CloSYS II Mouthwash). The chlorine dioxide neutralises the VSC's and kills the bacteria that produces them, it does not just cover a smell it eliminates the cause. This mouthwash does not contain alcohol which most other preparations do therefore it does not dry the mouth and reduce saliva flow which can make bad breath worse if used over a long period of time.

Advanced or chronic periodontal disease can cause the same smells. The bacteria are living in pockets down between the tooth and gum and this does need to be treated by your dentist. Check out our Toothbrushing Technique and Do I have Gum Disease? to make sure you understand the process and are cleaning correctly.

In about 5% of cases the smell can be caused by sinus infection and post-nasal drip, with similar types of bacteria involved. This an area for your medical practitioner if it is chronic so please see your doctor if this is a regular occurrence for you

In about 3% of cases a long term infection in your tonsils can be the cause of bad breath. If you have eliminated all other causes then again check with your doctor if your tonsils are involved. Very rarely some medical conditions can cause bad breath.

How do I get fresh breath ?

Scrape the back of the tongue as a matter of routine once a day

Make sure you have the correct brushing technique and inter dental cleaning technique

See your dentist to eliminate the possibility of gum disease

Drink plenty of water to keep you mouth moist and saliva flow normal

Chewing sugar free chewing gum will increase your saliva flow(see Recaldent and Biotene Products)Be careful as this can increase jaw/joint problems.

Use CloSYS II once a day to reduce bacteria numbers and eliminate VSC's

Poor nutrition and its impact on psychological and sexual health

Promoting sexual health is not just a matter of good hygiene or preventing infectious diseases that undermine one's sexual health. It also entails having a good and balanced diet. Good food allows the body to acquire various nutrients that are needed by the internal organs to function well. Even the skin is rejuvenated through the consumption of nutritious meals and water.

The lack of a balanced, nutritious diet could possibly expose a person to several physiological problems. Women, for example, could experience irregular periods or even totally miss several periods due to overeating and over-exercise. Amenorrhea, or the absence of menstrual periods, is even welcomed by young women because they are pleased that they no longer need to use a tampon or sanitary napkin. However, what is not often realized by these women is that missing menstrual periods may already be a sign of decreased estrogen levels. Low estrogen levels as well as over-training can lead to osteoporosis Women who lack calcium intake can also develop a higher risk of osteoporosis or brittle bone syndrome. Osteoporosis causes a woman's bone density to decrease, leaving her skeletal system weak and vulnerable to fractures. Low estrogen levels during the peak years of bone-building through the preteen and teen years, can affect bone density for the rest of your life. Bone growth lost during these years cannot be regained.

Poor nutrition can also cause other delays or problems in physical development among women. These adverse effects of malnutrition may include underdevelopment of mammary glands, hormonal imbalance, stunted growth, weakness, anemia, internal organ failure, and even difficulty in conception.

Improper eating habits can also cause some women to develop psychological problems. Anorexia and bulimia are two of the most common eating disorders reported today especially among younger women. More than just being drawn into a pattern of near-fatal under-eating. Self-inflicted starvation is a very dangerous effect of having an imbalanced sense of self-worth and self-image. Young women who believe that “she can can never be too thin" starve themselves almost to the point of death.

Other psychological problems may also be caused by hormonal changes in a woman's body. These hormonal changes usually trigger symptoms of depression, sleeping difficulties, oversensitivity, mood swings, and anxiety. In extreme cases, women with psychological problems may even attempt suicide. Specifically, changes in thyroid hormone levels can cause symptoms of depression including mood swings, irritability, fatigue, lack of concentration, sleeping problems, and weight gain. Women with eating disorders can also expose themselves to bullying especially when others see them as being different, weird, or weak.

Among men, hormonal changes are also caused by poor nutrition. Over-exercise or overtraining also causes a sharp decline in male testosterone levels. Men with testosterone problems usually suffer from low sperm count, lack of sex drive, and erection problems.

Indeed, food is not only for the stomach. Good and proper nutrition is also essential to male and female health, especially in the area of sexual ability and performance. By eating the right kinds and amounts of food --- plus getting sufficient rest and exercise, men and women can improve their sexual performance and overall sense of well-being.

Don t want a cigarette help quit smoking is here

If you don't want a cigarette: help quit smoking is what you need. Many people are tired of smoking and do not want to continue it. But their addiction drives them to continue to buy cigarettes. The nicotine in there blood stream will not let them just give up it grabs them with constant cravings until the person finally gives in.

Smokers often fight daily with their cravings for more and more nicotine. It is a substance that once in the body has an extremely difficult time letting go. People who have only smoked for a couple of months can still find quitting smoking to be extremely difficult. For those that have smoked for years and year, the idea of quitting smoking is two fold.

Heavy smokers have to fight against the nicotine addiction and try to become smoke-free over time. It is difficult for the body to rely on nicotine and then have to start functioning on less and less of it. But most heavy smokers find that a gradual cessation from the nicotine or tobacco works best for them. Becoming totally smokeless can often take several months.

The second part of quitting for, people who have smoked for several years, is the lifestyle changes that it will bring. For years the person has spent hundreds of dollars on cigarettes every month. They are now faced with a surplus of cash that can be hard to handle productively. Smokers also have developed habits or rituals that surround their smoking habit. These may include meeting friends at work during smoke breaks or going to a favorite bar to smoke and have a drink.

When the smoker is finally able to quit smoking their trigger spots will still be there. If there was a certain restaurant that they always smoked at it may be hard to eat there and not have a cigarette. These responses are normal and it does not matter if you quit smoking cold turkey or did it over a long period of time. The craving for nicotine can last years after a person has quit smoking.

It is important for a person who is trying to quit smoking to incorporate other lifestyle changes into their lives. If they normally meet for a smoking break twice a day it may be helpful to use that time to go for a walk. Smokers need to recognize their triggers and learn to avoid situations that are tempting to them.

Through monitoring of their environment and adjusting their quitting techniques it is possible for people at all smoking levels to quit. Quitting smoking may take a different amount of time for each individual and there is not RIGHT or specific program that can guarantee success.

A smoker that is aware of their triggers and is able to avoid them when necessary will have a better probability of quitting smoking and sticking to it. Millions of people every year try to quit smoking; it is a difficult thing to do. But extremely worth it for the people who do it.

Of birth control and unwanted pregnancies

Married for eight years, Robert and Tanya Maxwell had their hands full trying to raise six children. As devout Catholics, the couple were constrained to follow the teachings of their church. In 1968, Pope Paul VI issued an encyclical letter entitled Humanae Vitae which stated that, “...it is always wrong to use contraception to prevent new human beings from coming into existence.” The couple were active in the Catholic lay community and vowed to follow the doctrines of their church. Of their six children, the first three offspring were “intentional” or were conceived with full intent on resulting in pregnancy. They really wanted to only have three children. However, the fourth up to sixth child could be considered “an accident” brought by the heat of passion. While they remained thankful for having six children, each of whom they saw as a blessing from God, they could not help but feel overwhelmed. Having a big family has really taken a toll on their marriage, time, and finances. After some deliberation, the couple decided to adopt birth control methods or family planning. Definitely, the rhythm method was not appropriate for them. For the sake of the entire family's well being, the couple decided to be more open-minded about family planning. Even if Mrs. Maxwell was not so keen on trying methods that were not approved by the Church, she realized that their conservative views got them to into trouble in terms of their family's finances.

Ben and Laura, on the other hand, are from from being conservatives. They got married right after their high school graduation. Laura, who was only 18 at the time she got married, got pregnant soon after tying the knot with Ben. The couple underwent sex education in school and said that they always practiced safe, protected sex. Still, life sprang a surprise on them.

Roger and Lisa Cooper, unlike the first two couples, had a honeymoon baby. But after starting a new business, they agreed that they would wait to try for the next baby after about two years. They made it a condition to achieve success in their business first so that they would be more financially prepared to have a second baby. But after a few short months after her first baby's birthday, Mrs. Cooper found out that she was pregnant with twins!

A lot of couples are concerned about the size of their family as a response to the need to be more financially and emotionally prepared for the challenges of having a large brood of children. For that reason, contraception has become a serious and necessary issue for many couples. But even with all the advances in science and medicine, many are still surprised and overwhelmed by unplanned marriages. The reason for this is simply the lack of information about methods of contraception and family planning.

Here are a list of practical and effective methods of contraception that all married couples should be informed about:

1. Th Pill – It is still the most widely accepted birth control method. It is a drug that contains estrogen and progesterone --- hormones that change how the body works and prevents pregnancy. The birth control pill suppresses ovulation and thickens the cervical mucus around the cervix, making it difficult for sperm to reach the uterus to fertilize the egg cells. Some studies show that the use of these so-called combination pills helps lower the risk of ovarian and endometrial cancer. However, scientific evidence also shows that the use of the pill also increases risk for cervical and liver cancer. The side effects associated with the pill varies from one woman to another. Some of the possible side effects include nausea, spotting between periods, depression, weigh gain, among others. The pill is not recommended for those who are diabetic, women with high blood pressure, and smokers who are over 35 years old. The pill is generally marked as 99% effective as a birth control method.

2. The Condom - A thin latex rubber sheath that fits over the erect penis and bars the sperm from entry into the cervix. It is inexpensive, convenient, and widely available. The main advantage of using a condom is that it can protect the user from contracting sexually transmitted disease including HIV and AID. However, the most common complaint about the condom is that some men find it uncomfortable and that it lessens sexual pleasure.

3. Injectable Contraceptive - Injectable contraceptives contain the hormone called Medroxy Progestorone Acetate and prevents ovulation for three months. This method can be used by breastfeeding mothers and offers the woman both privacy and ease. However, the injectable offers no protection against STDs and the effects of the shot are not immediately reversible once you have been injected.

4. Norplant – This method involves the surgical insertion of six matchstick-sized rods in the underside of the upper arm. These rods release a low-dose hormone called levonogrestrel which thickens the cervical mucus, thins the lining of the womb, and inhibits ovulation for as long as five years. The drawback is that some women experienced skin irritation, headaches, dizziness, acne, weight gain, hair loss and nausea.

What contraception is right for you? The right answer can really come only from you and your partner.

Talk to your health care professional about safe and proven birth control methods. Always remember its best to use some form of birth control method rather than leaving everything to chance. Every couple should be responsible enough to practice safe sex and prevent unwanted pregnancy.

The core of sexual health

The body's core --- which includes the abdominal, lower back, pelvis, and hip area --- is considered the most vital part of the body. The core is where the body's center of gravity is located and this is where force production and movement begins. The muscles in this area work in harmony to provide stability to the body to bring force, power, and stability from the legs to the upper and vice versa. Many of the body's core muscles cannot be seen because they are hidden underneath the other muscles. According to health experts, a strong core makes it easier to do physical activities, even the most strenuous routines. They add that the core is very complicated and serves many important tasks that may lead to improved overall health and sexual health.

A developed core is essential to stability and sports performance. Martial artists need developed cores to execute difficult kicks and attacks properly. Basketball players need core strength to perform acrobatic dunks and layups. Golfers need core stability to swing properly. More importantly, core training is important because training the muscles in this area corrects postural imbalance that may lead to injuries. By strengthening the muscles, tendons, and ligaments that support the spine, core training may help reduce the risk of lower back pain. In addition, a developed and stable core may help prevent injuries because stronger muscles support the spine, pelvis, and shoulder joints. A well-developed core is essential to attain full range of body motion --- an ability needed for both work and leisure. For these reasons, health and fitness experts recommend people to undergo core training.

Core Training, also called core muscle training, core stability, and core strengthening provides a protective defense to the spinal cord and several organs of the human body. This kind of training may involve proper hydration, nutrition, core exercises, and body relaxation. Many fitness experts believe that core training can be used as an alternative solution to stress and anxiety, bad posture, and weight control. Other activities that involve core training are yoga, Pilates, and martial arts. These types of training help practitioners develop a healthy body, increase lifespan, achieve a state of bliss, and have a better sex life. Studies show that performing these exercise routines help promote more body energy, self-esteem, and increased testosterone levels. Stretching exercises in yoga, Pilates, and martial arts act serve as “massage” for the internal organs of the body, enabling the body's internal systems to function properly. Both Western and Chinese medicine support claims regarding the health benefits of having a well-developed core.

According to eastern medicine, the core is the center of all human energy. These principles believe that the core is the source of the 'chi,' the power within. The 'chi' is responsible for self-healing, self-recovery, and self-realization. Chinese beliefs add that the this power is a life force and is present in every living thing. The 'chi' flows in the body thorough channels called meridians and give the body life nourishment and energy. The chi can be developed by meditation, visualization, and breathing. Activities that are done in yoga, Pilates, and the martial arts. The health benefits of having a developed core has been approved by science and eastern beliefs. Core strength is important to ordinary people and athletes alike. Incorporating them in a workout may reduce strength, avoid muscle injury, and improve posture and strength.

Children in need not misdeed

In the Philippines, there are more than 36 million people under 19 years old who are living in utterly inhuman conditions. About a million and a half children are estimated to live on the streets. They survive by begging for food and through petty theft. In spite of laws against child labor, more than three and a half million children from 5 to 17 years old work under grueling conditions. The data regarding child abuse and neglect in the Philippines are considered to be below the actual figures since the current statistics only reflect reported cases of abuse.

Recently, a survey by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reflected a sudden increase in the number of children that resulted from increased awareness and reporting in the community. Most of these children in this survey were victims of child abuse and neglect, also known as “child maltreatment.” Child maltreatment is a behavior toward a child that is outside the norms of conduct and entails substantial risk of causing physical or emotional harm. Child maltreatment can be a single incident, but it is usually a pattern of behavior that takes place over time. There are four types of recognized maltreatment. These are physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse (psychological abuse), and neglect.

The causes of child maltreatment are varied and not well understood. Abuse and neglect are often associated with physical injuries, delayed growth and development, and mental problems. They are more common in poor and extremely poor families than in families with higher incomes. Child maltreatment is also associated with psychological and emotional problems such as aggression, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. In extreme cases, child abuse and neglect can lead to death.

Child abuse is also linked to an increase risk of substance abuse, eating disorders, obesity, depression, suicide, and sexual promiscuity later on in their lives. Women who were victims of physical assault during their childhood are twice as likely to be victims of physical assault as adults. There are also evidences which suggest that victims of child maltreatment are more likely to engage themselves in criminal behavior as juveniles and adults than others.

Although it is said that the most important relationship for all beings is that with their parents or with their families, child maltreatment often starts at home. Unfortunately, an alarming number of parents do not understand the importance of the parent-child relationship. They are often too young or unprepared for such responsibility. Their inability to commit to good parenting techniques causes serious detriment to the lives and well being of their children.

Children who have been maltreated are usually unwilling or unable to reveal their situation to someone because of parental threats, or a feeling of loyalty to the family. For children who are in school, while carefully asking a child may help to unearth details of maltreatment, teachers need to be aware of non-verbal ways in which the message of abuse may be communicated. The presence of one indicator alone does not necessarily mean that maltreatment has occurred. If there are a number of indicators, then immediate counseling is needed for the child. It is the process by which a professional helps a person cope with mental or emotional distress, and understand and solve personal problems is called counseling.

Individual and group counseling sessions usually take two years or even longer. The goal of undoing life-long damage can be very difficult because the damage pervades every aspect of a child. There may also be physiological changes that cannot just be “counseled” away. Medication can be useful for the symptoms of depression, anxiety and other symptoms, but should never be dispensed in the absence of counseling for the root of the problem. For children, play therapy and family therapy can be helpful.

It is important to help a child deal with the abuse as well as the psychological problems they report. Research indicates that without some form of intervention against child maltreatment, the long-term consequences for children can be nightmares, feeling of insecurity, feeling unsafe, poor school performance and low self-esteem. They are also more likely to be abusive or become victims of abuse themselves.

In the zone or out of sync

Ask any athlete after a loss and they'll tell you that they did better during their training. Many athletes perform well in training only to lose composure in the end. What's the cause? Fatigue? Over-training? Or choking? Specialists say that athlete's poor performance is sometimes caused by performance anxiety. This stigma is experienced by most athletes—they are normal and are accepted. Sports specialists call this choking which according to them is drop off of performance because of too much stress. Many athletes choke in one way or another. Coaches and players are having a hard time finding out where it all began. Sports specialists and some psychologists claim that this event is something that occurs within and not because of an external factor. Thoughts of doubt and failure may take a toll in one's game plan. These kinds of negative thinking often lead to anxiety and stress and eventually losing a match. This is the moment where butterflies in the stomach becomes common.

Anxiety comes from a matter over lack of control over circumstances. It usually leads to pessimistic thinking. Too much stress and anxiety can seriously affect an athlete's ability to focus and may have an effect on their performance. This may cause them the game or lead to injuries. Specialists advise that it is best to determine one's own anxiety levels. More often than not, they are products of our thinking. Experts believe that a certain amount of arousal is needed in order to perform competitively. Arousal according to researchers is a physiological and psychological state of being awake. It leads to increased heart rate and blood pressure conditions of sensory alertness, mobility, and readiness to respond. Too much or too little of it will probably be an advantage. Athletes who have the right amount of arousal is said to be “in the zone”. Every move seems to be perfect and seems to complement the game plan. One of the main causes why there is an imbalance because some fighters are overcome by pre-game jitters that may lead to loss of composure in the game or sport. This disturbance may also cause them to get tired more quickly and commit more mistakes.

Before the competition

Every athlete should understand that choking and pre-game jitters are normal and that they should learn to accept them. The pre-game nervousness shouldn't be misinterpreted as a negative thing and that their jitters need not cause panic. Specialists say that it is just adrenaline rush and that it is but a normal phase or process. The “butterflies” are part of the body's way of preparing for a competition or strenuous activity. Being prepared physically and mentally is crucial in a competitive event. Proper warm ups, stretching, and visualization is needed to execute the game plan.

During the competition

“I have no future, i have no past, my goal is to make the present last,” is a warrior mantra. An athlete should focus on the task at hand rather than the outcome. When athletes find themselves thinking of negative thoughts, they should stop and focus. If they perform like they don't care about the outcome, they may feel relaxed and excel in that particular event and avoid choking.

After the competition

Athletes should review an event and recall the things that were done right. They should focus on the actions, thoughts, and behaviors that would help them perform well. The factors that hindered one's performance should also be considered so that ways and means can be employed to increase the level of performance and “winnability” of a player or team. Athletes who train alone should also consider joining a group to familiarize themselves with a “competitive unknown.”

Where should you buy steroids

Anabolic steroids, also known as anabolic androgenic steroids, are natural and synthetic drugs that are derived from testosterone. Often, people use anabolic steroids to encourage cell growth that helps in the development of tissues of muscles. There are stacks of anabolic steroids available on the market, each having varying anabolic and androgenic properties.

But, do you know, where should you buy steroids? Actually, you have only two choices to buy steroids; from a medical doctor or the black market. In earlier time, it wasn’t that difficult to find out a sympathetic physician who would easily prescribe you anabolic steroids.

But, with the categorization of anabolic steroids as a ‘controlled substance’ in the early 1990’s, the majority of physicians are now avoiding to prescribe anabolic steroids even for genuine medical reasons, as the punishments and penalties are just too harsh. However, it is not illegal when people buy steroids for legitimate purposes.

In such state, many muscle builders have turned their faces towards steroid dealers on the black market, to buy steroids in order to fulfill their needs. This industry has always been surviving for muscle-builders, and it has always been the favorite place for bodybuilders to buy steroids and other drugs. Some people buy steroids through Internet (online).

Most of the steroids available on the black market are developed in Mexico. First, they are smuggled illicitly into the United States (U. S.), from where they are circularized all over the North American continent. This is not surprising that California is the major center of this black market. From California, the steroids are generally supplied through mail orders or by couriers to steroid suppliers in other U. S. states or Canada.

So before buying, it is important for you to know ‘where are you buying steroids from?’ Is it legitimate or illegitimate source or way? Keep in mind that illegitimate ways to buy steroids can definitely get you into trouble. So think deeply, before you buy steroids for an illegal source. You should always buy steroids legally from legitimate sources. Of course, you can buy steroids legally, consulting with your physicians, getting these prescribed, if you really need these drugs.

Causes of fibromyalgia

Although there is no exact treatment for fibromyalgia, but some preventive measures can be taken to get rid of it. Presently doctors are concentrating on managing pain, relaxing muscles and reduced depression. Doctors prescribe patients, low-stress exercises such as walking, swimming, water aerobics, and biking rather than muscle-straining exercises such as weight training. Some other measures are heat applied to sore muscles, stretching exercises (Pilates is one form.) and massage.

As there is no specific medicine for fibromyalgia, doctors try to reduce the pain and increase the sleep. In order to achieve that following types of medicines are prescribed:

Analgesics: Acetaminophen (Tylenol, others) may reduce the pain and stiffness caused by fibromyalgia. However, its effectiveness varies with individuals. Tramadol (Ultram) is a pain reliever medicine that may be taken with or without acetaminophen. Doctors often recommend nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) — such as aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others) or naproxen sodium (Anaprox, Aleve) — in combination with other medications, but NSAIDs haven't proven to be useful in control the pain in fibromyalgia when taken by themselves.

Antidepressants: Doctors advise antidepressant medications, such as amitriptyline, nortriptyline (Aventyl, Pamelor) or doxepin (Sinequan) to help deep and uninterrupted sleep. Fluoxetine (Prozac) in mixture with amitriptyline has also been found efficient. Sertraline (Zoloft) and paroxetine (Paxil) are also effective for the patients suffering from depression. These medications may be beneficial by affecting serotonin levels in the brain.

Muscle relaxants: Taking the medication cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril) at bedtime may help to take care of muscle pain and spasms.

Doctors strictly oppose consumption of sleeping pills and pain killers. Patients sometimes take them for quick relief, but the effect is very short term while the side-effect lasts for a long term. These medicines are type of narcotic, so these are very harmful for the patients.

Some self made measures can also be effective to prevent fibromyalgia. These procedures can be exercised in home. The measures are:

* Proper workout include walking, swimming, biking and water aerobics. A physical therapist may help you develop a home exercise program.

* Stretching, Free-hands, Good posture and relaxation workouts are also helpful.

* Develop a plan to avoid or limit over-exertion and poignant stress. Give yourself time each day to rest.

* Exercise stress lessening techniques, such as deep-breathing exercises, meditation and Yoga.

* Leading a very healthy and simple lifestyle can also help to prevent fibromyalgia.
